This self-leadership programme aimed at trainee solicitors and solicitor apprentices will equip you with key skills and attributes required to be a successful solicitor. Equipping yourself with these skills at the early stage of your career will allow you to get the most from your training and assist with career planning and progression.
This programme will be delivered over three 60-minute sessions:
Session 1: Thriving within a team
Effective collaboration is fundamental for success in the legal industry, especially in the hybrid working environment. This session equips you with a practical framework to help build high trust working relationships and flourish within a team environment. Key touch points between trainee/supervisor’s daily interactions will be explored to help you create professional dependability, navigate constructive feedback and minimise mistakes and conflict.
Session 2: Stress management
This session takes an inside-out approach to stress management, supporting you to develop your personal capacity to navigate the demands of the legal sector. Touching on common trainee themes such as perfectionism and imposter syndrome, you will learn about the importance of accurate self-awareness and the need for continuous self-reflection. You will also be provided with an essential toolkit for developing the emotional and psychological agility that’s necessary to meet the demands and pressures of your role.
Session 3: Building a personal brand in the legal sector
In a high-performing sector it’s crucial to clearly differentiate your value and what you bring to the table – you need to do more than have a good reputation, you need to have an outstanding personal brand. In this session you will be helped to identify the unique combination of strengths, skills and experiences that make you who you are. You will receive support to develop a values-based personal brand charter, and look for opportunities to use this insight about yourself to strengthen your connections and further your career progression.
